INTRODUCTION
Blood Culture Media or hemocultures are control systems for microbial contamination in the blood. They are used in hospitals for the detection of bacterial infections. The use of one or another type of medium depends on the kind of analysis to be performed. They basically consist of neutral glass flasks containing the culture medium, SPS, vacuum and a modified atmosphere.
There are different types of hemocultures depending on the composition of the media they contain and the presentations of the finished product. CONDA manufactures the following hemocultures:

1.- PEDIATRIC HEMOCULTURES
Small flasks with 20 ml. of medium……… For the inoculation of 2 ml. of blood.

APPLICATIONS
: For the detection of aerobic microorganisms:
      • Brain Heart Infusion Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2
For the detection of anaerobic microorganisms:
      • Schaedler Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2


2.- ADULT HEMOCULTURES
50 ml. flasks………………………For the inoculation of 5ml. of blood.
100 ml. flasks……………… … For the inoculation of 10 ml. of blood.

APPLICATIONS:
For the detection of aerobic microorganisms:
      • Trypticasein Soy Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2 (100 ml)
      • Trypticasein Soy Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2 (50 ml)
      • Brain Heart Infusion Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2 (100 ml)
      • Brain Heart Infusion Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2 (50 ml)
For the detection of anaerobic microorganisms:
      • Fluid Thioglycollate Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2 (100 ml)
      • Fluid Thioglycollate Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2 (50 ml)
      • Schaedler Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2 (100 ml)
      • Schaedler Broth with SPS, vacuum and CO2 (50 ml)
      • Schaedler Broth reduced with vitamin K3, with vacuum, CO2 , N2 and H2 (100 ml)
      • Schaedler Broth reduced with vitamin K3, with vacuum, CO2 , N2 and H2 (50 ml)
