NEW CANDIDA CHROMOGENIC AGAR CANDIDA CHROMOGENIC AGAR (Cat.1382): New differential and selective medium for the isolation and quick identification of Candida spp. of clinical importance. Candidiasis, commonly known as yeast infection or thrush, is a fungal infection of any of the Candida species, of which Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis and Candida krusei are the most common. Due to the health repercussions it can cause, the rapid identification of the different species of Candida is crucial for its correct diagnosis and treatment. Whilst traditional media for Candida did not differentiate between Candida spp, CONDA’s new Candida Chromogenic Agar (Cat. 1382), not only identifies Candida spp, but it differentiates all 3 mentioned types due to the chromogenic substrates present in the medium. Colonies of Candida albicans are green, those of Candida krusei are purple-pink and those of Candida tropicalis are blue.
