There are different problems for each of the various cosmetics and pharmaceuticals with different composition and diversity, since each of them develop different contaminating microorganisms. The most important component is water that decides on growth, multiplication and survival of microorganisms in drugs and cosmetics.

Products with a high content of available water are the most problematic ones. Ointments and oils can be overgrown only by highly specialized organisms if condensed water is present at the top of the cosmetic (or surfaces that have contact with air) the number of microorganisms that grows is much higher.

The cosmetic testing consists of two phases:
a) Contaminant detection and preservative inhibition.
b) Identification of microorganism
