ISO 6579 culture media

ISO 6579:2002 specifies a horizontal method for the detection of Salmonella, including Salmonella typhi and Salmonella paratyphi in products intended for human consumption and animal feeding, and for environmental samples in the fields of food production and handling.

In this norm, 4 different successive stages are needed for the detection of Salmonella: preenrichment, selective enrichment, seeding and identification in plates, and confirmation. CONDA has elaborated a brief ISO 6579 guide containing the different media used in this procedure, as well as information on the performance of each one to help all customers apply the ISO requirements.
