PPA AGAR II is a complex polysaccharide extracted from certain marine algae of the Rhodophyceae class.
PPA AGAR II is the most used gelling agent in the cultivation of plants. It is used in a broad range of concentrations, being the 6-10 g/l concentration the most common of them. This agar has been purified and designed for the cultivation of plants.
Once dissolved and cooled to 34-38 ºC, the PPA Agar will gelify, remaining in that state until temperatures as high as 65ºC. Agar melts at approximately 85-90 °C. This property is known as hysteresis.
