What we mean by food fraud?
Food fraud refers to any practice intended to deceive consumers about the identity, quality, or composition of food for financial gain.
Because these activities are covert, it is difficult to accurately determine their global economic impact; however, it is estimated that they cause losses of around $40 billion per year for producers.
Currently, ISO 20813:2023 “Molecular biomarker analysis. Methods of analysis for the detection and identification of animal species in food and food products (nucleic acid-based methods)” establishes a standardized procedure for the qualitative detection of species-specific DNA in food products using conventional PCR or real-time PCR techniques.
This technology allows us to detect the DNA of any animal species with high precision and sensitivity. In addition, results are obtained in a few hours, which helps to make quick decisions.
At Condalab, we are launching the new Condagene® animal identification kits, which allow you to detect the presence of animal DNA with maximum sensitivity and accuracy, ensuring the authenticity of your products.
Why choose our kits?
- Fast and reliable detection of animal DNA.
- Clear differentiation of species.
- Ready-to-use format for open qPCR equipment.
- Support for regulatory compliance and transparency in labeling.
In addition to the detection kits, we have extraction kits designed specifically for the food industry and the necessary equipment to perform qPCR in your laboratory.
