Molecular biology

We can consider that Watson and Crick's discovery of DNA structure in 1953 marked the actual beginning of Molecular Biology by being able to understand, as a whole, its properties and gene function. The need to learn more about this molecule has led over time to the emergence of new techniques such as cloning, sequencing and more recently the study of biomarkers that have opened a new door to the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases such as cancer.
