We celebrate World Water Day with new products for its control!

Water is an essential resource for life, it is a basic necessity and access to a safe source of fresh water should be guaranteed for everyone. However, due to different circumstances, it is estimated that more than 2.2 billion people live without access to it.  

World Water Day 

World Water Day is celebrated on March 22 and its goal, among others, is precisely to raise awareness about the great importance of maintaining the quality of drinking water. Just as water is life, if it does not meet certain conditions, it can be the opposite.  

Water consumption in Europe per household per day is estimated to be around 150L.  

In the industrial world, water must also meet certain requirements, especially when it is intended for human consumption. Annual industrial consumption amounts to some 965 cubic hectometers in Spain per year. Water quality controls 

In Europe, these controls are very diverse and their regulation is strict. To be considered safe to drink, it must meet certain chemical, physical, radiological and microbiological requirements. The latter are particularly important, as it is estimated that 1.7 billion people in the world suffer the consequences of drinking contaminated water every year, which can result in death in extreme cases. Among the best known and most common pathogens are E. coli and coliforms. Their strict control, especially in drinking water, is crucial and must be very strict.

MLGA Agar 

The formulation complies with a British Environmental Agency (EA) standard for the detection of E. coli and coliforms, a common consequence of faecal contamination in water. This medium contains two chromogenic compounds to differentiate between coliforms (yellow colonies) and E. coli (green colonies). 

mTEC Agar 

To isolate and enumerate thermotolerant E. coli by from a membrane filtration. This medium is recommended for simple isolation and rapid enumeration of this gram-negative microorganism.  

Both mediums enable quick and efficient detections, without the need for further confirmations.
